Sex Sells!

An attractive woman has a decided advantage as sales representative over her male counterpart. This “selling edge” is primarily due to the existence of the “glass ceiling” found in most business organizations today. The glass ceiling (women are still arbitrarily held back from leadership positions) means that there are many more men in decision-making positions in businesses than women. Therefore, when cold calling, an attractive woman has a better chance of getting an appointment for a sales presentation, than does a man. Women are also given more attention in their presentations and less resistance up to a point, than a male sales representative or service industry professional (accountants, attorneys, consultants, bankers, etc.). This advantage has everything to do with sex and the physical appeal of a woman. It is clear to me as a sales trainer, coaching sales representatives and service industry professionals in the field, that male decision-makers often use a different part of their anatomy than their head to make their buying decisions.

The female advantage in obtaining sales opportunities is tempered, however, by most sales women experiencing a greater difficulty in closing sales. The male ego gets in the way of the final decision; because many men can’t allow themselves to, as they see it, “lose” to an attractive woman. Therefore, female sales professionals need to execute a selling process that counters this knee jerk reaction experienced by many of the male prospects, customers or clients they try to sell.

A selling system like the one taught in my Sales Success Strategies self-directed learning manual http://www.TheSellingEdge.com/manual1.htm can help any sales woman to flip switches in a decision-maker’s brain and easily move around the roadblock to closing her sale. I have seen research on this subject that says that an attractive women who effectively implements a step-by-step consultative selling system, can achieve a 30 percent higher closing ratio than a male representative using a similar selling process. Sex sells!

Four Easy Steps To Building A Powerful Employee Incentive Program

Want to build a successful incentive program for your company? Have you dreamt about finding ways to have more fun at work and still see BIG results? At the heart of every employee incentive program is the ability to motivate and reward your team for excellent performance. In this article, I will show you four easy steps to build an incentive program that allows everyone to win!

Setting objectives: For any type of employee incentive program, your team must feel the goals are attainable and realistic. An incentive program should also fit into your company’s overall business strategy and be easy to measure. Using targets such as revenue growth, client retention, service satisfaction and profits, are some of the ways to establish incentive objectives. Lastly, the ideal incentive program will allow each person in your company to feel they have an opportunity to win.

Tip From The Coach: To build a powerful incentive program, plan a brainstorming session with your team so they can share unique insight about ways to make the program a giant success. Listen to their input, as they will lead you to the GOLD!

Developing a strategy: Be certain your objectives are simple and well defined. Then, do everything possible to ensure your company goals can be evaluated fairly and objectively. For example, your monthly revenue or the number of new sales each month can be easily measured. Once you have outlined the goals to be measured, then build a specific schedule of how frequently you are going to report the progress of your incentive program. For instance, if your incentive program is going to run for three months, then plan on announcing the rankings every two weeks, to keep top-of-mind awareness. Lastly, clearly outline the rules of your incentive program in writing and define the specific time period to be measured.

Tip From The Coach: When building your strategy, be certain to focus on win/win. Also, consider what will happen to morale if many participants don’t—or can’t—achieve their incentive objectives.

Establishing awards: Start by establishing your budget for this incentive program by defining the “projected” number of awards to be given. Then, consider the “people profile” of your team to develop appropriate awards that will be memorable and the winners will take pride in receiving. This is another great topic to brainstorm with your team because if you give them an open forum, they will tell you exactly what is important to them and to those they manage.

Tip From The Coach: Your team will be most inspired if they feel the incentive rewards are meaningful enough to justify their efforts. Some award ideas… a nice dinner with the President of your company, education/training classes paid for by the company, a paid day off with cash for shopping, a special plaque to reward top performers, special recognition at your next meeting, or a trip to a vacation resort.

Evaluating the results: Bravo! Your incentive program is completed and now is the time to evaluate the results and to justify the success of your program. Start by getting feedback from your team by surveying them and asking for their feedback. Ask them if the incentive program made a difference in their performance and ask for any suggestions they have to improve future programs. Then, evaluate if the program helped your company achieve its goals while consider any improvements you would make for the next incentive program.

Tip From The Coach: When evaluating the success of your incentive program, look for any side benefits you didn’t expect, such as a new spirit of enthusiasm, reduced turnover or increased teamwork.

Suppliment Your Regular Insurance with Discount Dental Insurance

How do you know if you are choosing the right dental plan for you and your family? The first thing you need to look at is what the monthly fees are. Can you afford the plan that you are looking at. After that you need to see what the coverage is, how much is your out of pocket cost going to be and can you afford that. No point in paying for insurance if you cannot afford the procedures regardless. You should also consider supplementing your primary insurance with a discount dental insurance plan that gives a discount to some of the things that regular plans do not cover thoroughly.

Why get dental insurance at all, a friend asked me recently as I labored over my plan choices. Those kinds of procedures should not cost that much she said with her very perfect smile (that I wanted to smack off of her face). Because she has never needed anything done to her teeth other than her by-annual cleanings, she has no clue how much dental work actually costs and how beneficial dental insurance and a supplemental discount dental insurance plan can be. I had a root canal and a crown last year and my out of pocket cost with insurance was just under one thousand dollars so I know just how important dental insurance can be.

INCREASE YOUR ONLINE SALES

According to a new survey carried out by Alliance & where ID_NUM=9270; Leicester, one in five small business owners view tax as their greatest concern. The Chancellor has announced in his last budget that companies with profits below œ10,000 will not have to pay any corporation tax with effect from 1 April 2002. The question to be asked is: does that announcement make incorporation a more attractive option compared to being a sole trader?

The answer is that from a tax point of view, it is advantageous to trade through a limited company as long as the income is drawn from the company by the owners as dividends from their shares and the amount of dividends drawn is restricted below the 40% band rate (i.e. œ31,063 for tax year 2002/03). That way, the owners have no further personal tax (”income tax”) to pay. Moreover, dividends are not subject to national insurance contributions. This is excellent news of course. But, if dividend income falls within the higher rate bracket of income tax (i.e. above œ34,515), they will be taxed at 22.5% on the excess, which of course will increase the tax burden. The company profits are subject to corporation tax rates. Those are lower than income tax rates.

The most catastrophic scenario is when the director takes his reward from the company as salary. Then his/her salary is taxed at income tax rates (like a sole trader’s income). That is because, unlike sole traders, the tax system treats companies as separate from their owners because a company is a separate legal entity. The problem is that the income taxes are higher than corporation tax rates. On top of that, they will be subject to employee and employer national insurance contributions, which of course increase the tax burden and render his position worse than even an unincorporated business (”sole trader”), because NIC Class 1 on payroll are higher than NIC Class 2 paid by self employed.

In contrast, a self employed person (”sole trader”) is taxed at income tax rates on the profits from his business, which are added to his other sources of income. As it has already been mentioned, income tax rates are overall higher than corporation tax rates. On top of income tax, national insurance contributions class 4 are payable on the business profits within a specified band (7% on profits between œ4,615and œ30,420). National insurance contributions Class 2 are also paid by self-employed people, although those are lower than those payable by company directors on their salaries.

To illustrate the above, let’s take a simple example. We have a limited company and a sole trader. They both make œ60,000 profits each in the tax year 2002/03. We assume that the company director takes a salary equal to the amount of his personal allowances (untaxed income) of œ4,615 and the balance as dividends. The company will pay corporation tax at 19% equal to œ10,523 and nothing else. The sole trader will pay income tax œ16,542, National insurance Class 2 œ104 and National insurance Class 4 œ1,806. Total œ18,452. The bottom line is that the person that has incorporated his business into a limited company will make a tax saving of œ7,929 compared to a sole trader! Isn’t that fantastic?

Somebody might be wondering: why is this entire happening? The official explanation is that, this government, to help the economy grow, encourages people to leave as much profits within their businesses to be reinvested, instead of being taken out and spent.

The “unofficial line” is that, as a matter of fact, for years the Inland Revenue has tried to reclassify the self-employed. The 1% in NIC hike on staff salaries above the NIC threshold from next April adds to both the employees’ and employers’ tax burden and may more than offset the saving from the corporation tax zero rate on the first œ10,000 of profits.

Aren’t there any other matters to consider in deciding whether to incorporate or not?

Higher administration costs to comply with company law, payroll and bookkeeping is one factor. Another issue is pension planning. Extracting profits out of the company as dividends rather than salary means that there will be no “net relevant earnings” and therefore pension contributions can’t be made. But the advent of stakeholder pension plans has meant that contributions up to œ3,600 per year can be made without the need for any earnings. If a person does not wish to transfer funds in existing plans into stakeholder because of high charges, there is a way out: the best net relevant earnings (i.e. salary) in five consecutive years can be used for making contributions for the next five years, even if there were no salaries in the remainder four years. It is comforting to know that entitlement to basic state pension is not affected by taking a salary from the company at the level of a person’s personal allowances i.e. œ4,615.

Furthermore, an individual may decide not to bother with pension plans and instead invest in ISA. Often, these can be more efficient than pensions but that’s beside the scope of this article. If that option is taken, no salary is necessary.

Another factor is business motoring. It might be tax advantageous for an unincorporated business that owns many cars not to incorporate because if these cars have some private use there will be benefits in kind taxed on the users. These are generally higher than the straight apportionment between private and business for all car running costs in the case of sole traders.

The conclusion is that there can be considerable tax savings waiting the sole trader who decides to go down the road to incorporation. But, one needs to proceed with caution and careful planning. And don’t forget the biggest advantage of incorporation, which is Protection from Personal Liability. Incorporating is one of the best ways to protect a business owner from personal liability. Shareholders of a company are generally not liable for the obligations of the company. Creditors of a company may seek payment from its assets, but not the assets of the shareholders. This means that business owners may engage in business without risking their homes or other personal property.

A Devastatingly Powerful Way To Steal Hoards Of Traffic From Your Competitors!

Today my competition put around $200 in my pocket. And tomorrow, they’re going to do it again.

In fact, everyday my competition sends me tons of their traffic and I make a mint from it.

But is all this stealing of traffic legal? Do I use some special software to divert traffic from their site? Will I end up in prison after making this information available to everyone and exposing what I’ve been doing?

Not a chance. In fact, what I’m doing is completely ethical and legal. And it accounts for a whooping percentage of the money I put in my pocket each day.

Let me explain this technique so you can apply it to your own business.

First thing you’re going to want to do is research your target audience. If you wrote your own sales letter then you should know them like a family member. But if not, then you’ll want to know:

* Where they spend their time online

* What hobbies they have

* What they’re after

After finding out these details about your audience you should know exactly which keywords they’re searching online.

For instance, I offer a book on how to catch a cheating spouse. And from my research, I know that most of the people that can use my book are:

* Mainly men * Obviously having trust problems in their relationship * And that I’ll most likely find them searching under terms like “catch cheating spouse”, “is my spouse cheating”, “infidelity”, “affairs”, and so on.

Now one thing I haven’t gotten the hang of is getting top placement in the search engines under the keywords I need. And even if I was, I think it’s next to impossible to get a top listing under every word my prospects are searching under. The fact is, with this method, you don’t need to get a listing anywhere on the search engines to get a steady stream of ready to buy, highly targeted traffic.

Okay, now with the list of keywords you’ve assembled because you know your target so well, start entering them into the search engines. And you’re going to notice that an amazing thing happens.

Right there in front of you is a listing of the websites getting the majority of the traffic on each search term. You’ll find them right there in the top three. And if you’re using a popular search engine like Google, you’ve got some very powerful, ready to use and profit from information.

Here’s what I would do with it:

Create an affiliate program if you don’t already have one. You can use Clickbank if they do your payment processing, or you can use the one I prefer which you’ll find on my website address listed below.

Set up a generous commission for those that refer people to your site. I like to use 40%.

Next, get your sales letter for your product and rework it until you have it converting like crazy. There’s a ton of sites that can help you learn to write better copy, and you’ll find some resources on my website. Or, if you’re not the do it yourself type, hire a results only copywriter to craft a hard-selling letter.

Once you have your sales letter pulling profits well, and you have an affiliate program in place, craft one more sales letter. This is one that you’ll send to your competition.

In it, you’ll want to explain how your product matches their sites content. You’ll let them know that you want to make them some money by simply placing a link on their site that points to your product. Explain how much they can make, and tell them how well your sales letter converts. Then give details of how they can sign up and become an affiliate for you.

Now here’s what you do….

Search on your list of keywords and send your sales letter to the top three under each search. Just make sure to keep a database of whom you’ve sent what to so you don’t bother those not interested.

But on a recent mailing of my own, where I sent sales letters out to my competition and offered to pay them when they funneled traffic to my site, 100% came back with a “yes”.

And the results have been amazing. Plus, consider the total amount of time invested was about 8 hours. But now that everything’s in place, I simply let them money roll on. And it will keep continue to stream in for years to come.

Do you have the desires to go out and purchase a motorbike and desire money

Inspect to see if the merchant bank who is willing to give you a bank loan is just. A lot of the moneylenders wil show you a rate of interest that looks serious but feels mischievously or so after some time.

12 percent interest rate may look so clean but will it stay the same after you have to repay your bank loan. Be burnished today to examine if you have a nice offer or if you don’t with the moneylender that offers you a credit loan. At this moment you can check into rates quickly at websites and escort if there are other conditions you should know about. It makes no difference if you live in Merced California or in Livonia Michigan a estimable online examination will alleviate you often a lot of discommode. now you need to check over and understand if you can have a money loan at a solid percent rate. A bank in Elgin Illinois or so may have a total completely different actual loan rate for a 5000 dollar loan then a bank in Gardena California and that makes a immense clear gap in your weekly pay backs.

How Many Exercises and Sets Do I Perform for My Strength Training?

What if I told you only have a limited amount of energy (readily available) per strength training session, would you believe me? Well the latest scientific data and blood tests on individuals under strict gym conditions have revealed that blood sugar levels drop dramatically after only 20 to 30 minutes during a high intensity strength training session.

So you see you only have a short period of time to complete your strength training, so exercise selection is crucial for proper results. One way around this is to use compound multi-joint movements as these offer the most beneficial muscle stimulation needed for lean muscle growth and metabolism improvement in the shortest period of time. In other words, we can train many muscles simultaneously and use our energy more efficiently.

Compound exercises are much more functional and superior to isolation exercises and promote natural movement of your joints. Heavier loads can also be lifted using these exercises. Some benefits are:

. More functional
. Higher muscle activation
. Higher hormonal release
. Less stress on joints.

Examples of compound multi-joint movements include squats, bench press, dips, and chin-ups. Performing three to four exercises with high intensity during a session are what most people are capable of during a high intensity strength-training workout. All the main muscle groups are thoroughly exercised with these exercises and they have an overall growth effect on the body as a whole i.e. a total body workout.

After rest and recuperation is allowed to take place and at the next exercise session if you can push out a few more reps then you will have become stronger, thus allowing for more muscle growth. i.e. more lean muscle and a higher metabolism.

It only takes one of these workouts to target the entire major support muscles of the body. Exercises should be chosen from the more complex and challenging to the less complex and challenging. Remember, as you get stronger in your upper body exercises i.e. Dips, Bench Press and Lat Pull downs, you will also add size to your upper arms as well as to your shoulders. There is no need to train the arms and shoulders with isolation exercises.

Did you know that current research shows that performing one set per exercise is as beneficial as multiple set workouts!!
If you think that volume training (multiple sets) is more effective then you’re wrong! The latest research shows that single set training is as beneficial as multiple set training. Also by performing the one set decreases the chances of over training and saves valuable energy for other exercises required during that particular workout.

So all you need to do is ONE SET only of each strength training exercise, this is accomplished by performing as many repetitions as you possibly can. Single sets are just as effective as multiple sets in increasing strength, muscle size and power.

After performing one complete set to total failure, it should be just about impossible to generate the same force and intensity for another complete set of the same exercise. If you’re able to generate the same force and intensity for this second set then it is pretty obvious that not enough effort has been put into the first set. If you give each set per exercise 100% effort (e.g. you cannot move the bar after the last rep) then there will be no more requirement for further muscle stimulation on that specific exercise.

Multiple Sets can be used in the following circumstances.

. The initial stages of learning a new exercise.

. During rehabilitation

Remember it is the intensity that is important, not the volume when it comes to gains in strength. One warm up set of 50% of maximal weight can be done for 5-10 repetitions to oil the joints for the big work set that is to follow. After completing a set and when your breathing has returned to normal proceed to the next exercise. There is no time limit here just what you feel comfortable with, be it 3 or 5 minutes etc.

Make no mistake about it put what you have leaned here to practice and you will start to finally make those long awaited gains you have been after.

Dramatically Improve Sales with The KISS Test

We’ve all heard the term KISS at one time or another - “Keep It Simple, Stupid.” However, the majority of salespeople violate this basic principle more often than not.

Let me start with some examples of what I’m talking about. At one position I held, I sat next to someone who could have been a top salesperson. He and I both operated much the same in that rather than cold call, we ran our own personal marketing programs to generate leads and simply took the calls that came in as a result. The problem is what he did with the calls. When someone called me, ready to buy, I immediately went into closing the deal and making arrangements to either come out with the paperwork or to fax it over. He, on the other hand, went into a full-length company story and a lot of other information that he absolutely should not tell a qualified prospect unless they ask for it. The end result is that people who called ready to sign up for one of our services lost interest and didn’t buy anything at all.

Another example is what happens every time I try to make a business purchase. Here I am, saying “Yes, I’m going to buy,” and the sales rep lauches into a company story about how long they’ve been in business, who their big clients are, and on and on. Lucky for these salespeople, the product usually sells itself and I still buy. However, I’m willing to bet that a lot of people don’t. Nothing is more frustrating than picking up the phone saying, “Hi, here I am ready to buy,” and having some rep go into a story bragging about how great the company is and all that they can do. That comes off as pure arrogance to a business owner. What’s more, talking about your big enterprise clients alienates most small business owners. They assume their needs will be placed second to those of the big dogs and that they’ll be treated as just a number when calling for service.

I think most training is at the root of this massive problem. Every course I’ve taken has gone through the steps of a sale. The problem is, what if all the steps don’t take place? Consider “objection handling.” When I was working for that company I mentioned earlier, many of my prospects had no objections because my marketing pieces took care of them in advance. By assuming that each of these steps are going to take place, a lot of salespeople will cause something to happen when it really shouldn’t have to begin with. If a prospect doesn’t come up with any major objections, don’t give them a reason to!

I’ve seen a lot of managers require their reps to fill out a “lead sheet” that documents each step of the sale. This assumes that each of the steps will happen when they may not. If you’re required to maintain these types of records, skip anything that doesn’t happen naturally. Don’t induce a prospect to enter a selling phase that may not only be unnecessary, but may cause you to lose the sale entirely.

Use the KISS test when you’re selling. Always ask yourself if what you’re doing is actually necessary. Believe me, you’ll save yourself a lot of wasted time and lost sales by doing so. I did.

How To Turn Regrets Into Opportunities

It’s time to take inventory. What worked for you and what didn’t work for you throughout 2005?

When you think about last year what are the things you regret not doing? Will you also regret not doing these things in 2006?

The best way to turn regrets into opportunities is to set them up as personal goals. It’s always worked for me and I’m sure it can work for you.

For example, write down five things you regret not doing last year. With this in mind create another list. What are the five things you’d like to accomplish in 2006 personally and professionally?

Putting your list on paper is very important. You see, most people don’t do this and it’s the biggest reason why 92.5% of all New Year’s resolutions never get done. 92.5% of all New Year’s resolutions become individual regrets. That’s no way to start the New year, especially if you’re in sales.

There’s a little space in your mind and it’s called - imagination. Everyone has one but so few people engage it.

The more vivid you can imagine yourself achieving something the more likely you will be able to achieve it. Pretty simple stuff huh?

If you can’t see yourself (Clearly) doing something why in the world would you expect to achieve it. The plain truth is if you can’t see it you won’t do it.

It all starts with you. Crank up your imagination! The world is waiting for you to claim your share of the available abundance.

It’s not so easy to imagine yourself being very successful and wealthy. It’s even more difficult trying to imagine a new life for you and your family.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Everyone has an inner voice that speaks to him, but very few people listen to it.” I’m paraphrasing this based on my memory of it from 20 years ago. After reading that quote 75 times I began listening to what my inner voice was saying.

I turned my life upside down. I walked away from a six-figure income, a big job, a corner office, a big bonus, a company car, stock options, and at the time, all the security that came with a corporate job.

The decision to leave my job and start my sales training company was the most courageous decision I ever made - including the decision to volunteer to go to Vietnam.

It doesn’t take courage to fire up your imagination. It takes courage to live the life you imagine. You and I are here only temporarily. Why not make the most of it?

Dream big!

Imagine vividly!

Establish goals that will light the way for the life you deserve to live.

The only acceptable place you’ll find people with no problems and no goals is a cemetery.

Some people die early (Mentally and attitudinally) and get buried later.

Take hold of your life. Grab the wheel. Establish goals to eliminate future regrets.

I don’t think it’s the person with the most toys who wins.

I believe it’s the person who dies with the fewest regrets.

You have my best wishes for a healthy, happy, and deliriously successful 2006.

Let’s go sell something . . .

If you’re at a crossroads in your life and would like to talk to someone (Me) who has been there and done that successfully take a quick look at this link. I have enough wiggle room in my calendar to talk one-on-one with only 15 people.
